Welcome to my teacher page. To begin, I want to express how excited I am to be your child’s teacher. It is very important to me that your child is comfortable and willing to risk in my classroom. I strongly believe that children learn from their mistakes and I hope to provide a classroom environment that allows for that. Kids learn in a variety of ways, that is why I am bringing in a blended learning approach to my instruction. Students of today learn in a variety of ways (collaboratively, one on one, using technology, teacher guided) it is my hope to provide many of these methods to your child. If you should need to discuss anything please don’t hesitate to contact me.
I have been teaching for over 12 years in a variety of grades and schools. I have been at Niwot for 6 of those years. This is my second year teaching 2nd grade. I truly love providing instruction and guidance to young students. Nothing is better than facilitating the learning of young minds. I am originally from the Seattle area and moved to Denver to attend Regis University. Upon graduating college I began my teaching career in the Denver Archdiocese for 2 years. Then taught in Jefferson County Public Schools for 4 years, all the while attending graduate school. I have a Master's Degree in School Administration with aspirations of becoming a school principal some day. I am married and have two sons that are middle school and high school. I live in Westminster and on my spare time shuttle my kids around to many of their activities. I love tending to my yard, taking care of my dogs and being a mom of two busy teenagers.
I am so excited to be a part of the Second grade team. Mrs. Cavanaugh, myself and Mrs. Olsen feel honored to be a part of your child’s learning. Together we will make this school year very special.
