Gifted and Talented

Niwot Elementary offers a robust Gifted Services program that supports the identification and programming for gifted students, grades K-12. In partnership with St. Vrain’s department of Gifted and Talented, we collaborate with staff, parents, and the community in support of advanced learners. The mission of Gifted Services is to ensure learning and growth through implementation of educational provisions and advocacy.

Gifted and Talented Nomination Process

Nominations for the Gifted and Talented Program are available for parents and teachers.  Gifted and Talented students must demonstrate readiness for advanced instruction and a desire to take on greater academic challenge in their learning.  Once nominated, a review of the student’s standardized test scores, grades, and behavior surveys assessing the student’s ability will be gathered.  Students are typically performing 2+ years above their current grade level.  The students must score at the 95th percentile or above on completed assessments.  Testing will take place through the end of September.  Qualification results are mailed home at the end of September.  Students will receive services for only their strength area.  Services may include advanced work in the regular classroom, pull-out classes, mixed-grade level grouping strategies, and mentoring.
