BS K-12 Fine Arts and Outdoor Education at Northland College

Hello! My name is Lauren Mocilac, and I am the Art Teacher at Niwot Elementary School. I have wanted to teach elementary art since I was 8 years old, and obtained my BS in K-12 Fine Art and Outdoor Education from Northland College in 2007. After working as a private school Admissions Director, a kindergarten/1st grade teacher, a Realtor, and stay at home mom, I found my way back to public education and began teaching art here at Niwot in fall of 2020. Starting my experience during the pandemic was both exciting and challenging, and I cannot imagine a better community to be a part of. Niwot feels like home, and the students and families have become very near and dear to me.

I live in Longmont with my family and our growing list of pets. We love to go adventuring on weekends and are often biking or hiking. We have a pop-up camper and know all the best places to find tarantulas, fossils, swimming holes and other lesser-known gems this state has to offer. When we aren’t exploring, you can find us at home making elaborate art projects just for fun.
