- Community Schools
The continued safety, well-being, and success of our students, teachers, staff, and community has always been our top priority as we navigate the complex and evolving coronavirus crisis. To that end, our comprehensive task force has outlined a school reopening plan that includes a return to full-time in-person instruction for students in grades PK-5, 6, and 9, and an alternating schedule with a combination of in-person and synchronous real-time online learning for students in grades 7-8 and 10-12.

I have been here at Niwot for the past 16 years. I moved here from Boston, MA 14 years ago after completing my Masters Degree in Education.
I grew up in New Hampshire and spent most of my life on the East Coast. I am an only child and still have family back East in MA. My husband and I moved to Colorado for a change of life experience. We both love outdoor activities, we ski, mountain bike, hike, and camp.
My husband, Paul, and I have a 10 year old daughter, Mya, who is in 5th grade in Boulder this year at our neighborhood school. We welcomed another daughter, Lexi on November 11, 2012. She is now 6 years old and in 1st Grade at school with her sister.
I have loved my years here at Niwot and I have grown and changed myself over these years. I am always reading, taking classes and learning new things and I try to make each year better and different. I love to try new things and frequently learn along with my students.
I believe strongly in Growth Mindset and helping my students persevere through their learning. I create a safe, fun learning environment where my students have lots of choices.
I support my students become more responsible for both their learning and their behavior. In 4th grade the expectations are bigger and it is a time when students learn time management, what works for them and what doesn’t, and also how to own their behaviors and consequences.
I include a lot of movement in my classroom. We take frequent movement breaks during our day. I try and work them in about every 20 minutes, especially after they have been working hard. This goes along with brain development and what is best for students and their learning.
I have been at Niwot for my whole teaching career. I started here teaching 4th grade. AFter 10 years, I decided to try the 2nd grade. I taught 2nd grade for three years, and while it was a great experience, it really made me realize that i LOVE 4th grade. It is such an amazing year of growth and I love the ages of my students.
I also believe that we are a team and that you come with lots of knowledge of your child. Please now I am always open to communication, questions or concerns.
I look forward to a great year together.
