Let me begin by saying I am so excited to be your child’s teachers. My husband, Patrick and two son’s, Peyton and Carrick, live in Westminster. My kids keep us busy running around from baseball practices, to friends houses to other school events they participate in. I am well aware of the bond a teacher creates between each and every student. I look forward to getting to know your child and your family. We all learn so differently and I look forward to the challenge of planning, instructing and guiding each of my 5th grade students through the process of learning the very exciting curriculum that we have.
I am originally from the Seattle area and moved to Denver to attend Regis University. Upon graduating college I began my teaching career in the Denver Archdiocese for 2 years. Then taught in Jefferson County Public Schools for 4 years, all the while attending graduate school. I have a Master's Degree in School Administration. I then got married and took time off to be home with my two boys. I began working at Niwot Elementary as an Instructional Paraeducator in 2012. This is my fourth year teaching at Niwot Elementary.
The 5th grade year is a year for students to lead the school and their peers. Students are faced with becoming role models to the entire student body as well as learning to manage their own social, academic and family needs and demands. With that comes the challenge of learning teachers different teaching styles and to remain organized in each of those classes. Together with Mrs. Lafaye and Mr. Reid we will lead your child through wonderful school and life experiences.
